We're going to Jamaica! Amiri's first trip to his old man's birth land. But if we want to bring him back to the U S of A with us, we'll have to brave an emergency passport office visit. We missed the temporary "Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative" accommodation which granted a reprieve from the WHTI's requirement that all persons entering the U.S. must present a passport or other document that denotes identity and citizenship. I was very surprised to learn that the requirement extends to infants and so tomorrow morning Napi and I get to parade Ami' into the DC regional passport office to submit his passport application on a priority basis. We are wheels-up on the 17th, so very little time to get this done, but we've been told they can get his passport to us within 3-5 days. I can understand a birth certificate or something, but a passport for a 14-month old? Heck, just getting his passport picture was an exercise in patience.
And then there are my Yankees. Down 6-2 in the top of the 7th to the Cleveland Indians with time running out. Can't believe October may end with Joe Torre not at the helm of the Yankees.
