With the Diaper Champ, you insert a bag (pick a bag, any bag) in the pail and secure the cover. You then drop the diapers in the top loading slot, flip the handle and the diaper drops into the bag. Here's the problem - the unit isn't sealed. So depending on the level of stink emanating from that diaper, it's only a matter of time before you are gagging in the room. Add a bunch of stinky diapers and you're really in for a treat! I believe the Diaper Genie uses independent bags that are tied off and then dropped into a collection bag. The newest model even boasts some sort of seal system to keep odors out. Next time around, we're going that route. Of course, those of us who own the Diaper Champ can simply put the soiled diapers in a plastic bag, tie it off and then drop it into the Diaper Champ - but at that point you're back to doing what the Diaper Genie does in one motion. Why is this the post of the day...I had to unload the Diaper Champ this morning...horrible!
