Ami' appears to be improving , no doubt due to the excellent supervision of Napi's dad as they hang-out at home this week. His breathing is still a bit "junky" as the nurses and doctors have referred to it, but for the most part he has shown marked improvement. We only see him in the mornings before work and in the evenings after work, but to me his breathing is most labored in the morning. Picture a dog panting and you get an idea of the sound he makes while breathing. The answer for that at this point is to give him his Albuterol treatment a little earlier. We're operating on a four hour schedule, so overnight he gets a treatment at midnight, followed by one at 0400 and another at 0800. That 0400 is a beast!
Today I took a break from the desk job and went down to a training facility to help out some of my old crew. One of the instructors mentioned that he and his wife live in fear of RSV. Turns out his daughter (born 3 months premature) has suffered from RSV in the past and at one point had to receive a series of shots (I believe four shots total) at $1400 per shot! I don't care what kind of drug plan you've got - it ain't taking enough off a $1400 shot of medicine!
