On a Westbound Train

I'm in the air tomorrow for business out west. By Wednesday I'll be standing under 83 degrees of sunshine. And sleeping through the night like a rock. I'll be missing the babies though - sleep or no sleep, there's nothing like looking up and seeing the face of the woman and child you love.

Ami' is sick. A cold of some sort, or perhaps a sinus infection as Napi's mom suggested last night. Lots of mucus in his nostrils and a sore throat and very raspy voice. Napi is thinking about calling the doctor on Monday and that's probably a good idea. Hopefully he doesn't get so sick that they pull him from daycare during the week. Poor Napi really doesn't have any days available to take leave, and with me out of town this could get tricky fast. This is a part of raising a child that we haven't really had to deal with yet. Staying at home to nurse him through some illness, or dealing with some persistent bug that's got him all bent out of whack. We know those days will come, but for now the winds of luck continue to blow our way. This sickness of his is particularly troublesome though, because we can't really give him anything for it. Or more precisely, we don't know what to give him for it. Napi gives him a vitamin every night, but other than that we're not certain what's available for a 3 month old infant, and frankly we haven't really discussed whether we want to start him on any kind of medication this early in his life. Decisions, Decisions...
